24-26. Enough steelbands. On to the Mas Bands. Here are few "Queens of the Band" waiting to pass the grandstand on South Quay. These elaborate costumed players each lead their band of masqueraders in the Parade of Bands. The world leader in costume design, Peter Minshall, who cut his teeth designing Trinidadian Mas costumes and went on to gain worldwide attention as the designer of costumes for Olympic ceremonies, did not participate in this year's Carnival in Trinidad, which was a big disappointment to many mas players.
