Although
I retired from fulltime college teaching in 1996, I remain active as an
educator. I get my teaching "fix" now in the form of cliniics and
masterclasses, usually in combination with concerts when I travel. In
addition to getting students interested in jazz improviation, I also
have taught classes in, music technology, arranging and orchestration,
music careers, general musicianship, and presentations about Trinidad's
"Panorama" competition and the state of pan in Trinidad.
I thrive on interaction with students, and like to "get my hands dirty"
as a teacher. Nothing is more gratifying than to see light bulbs
illuminate over the heads of learning musicians.
In addition to my traveling, I also have been a regular faculty member
of the Centrum jazz Workshop/Jazz Port Townsend in Washington State.
